Ultrasound Therapy and It's Uses

Baby, Fetus, Gender. These are all the words that we associate with ultrasound, and while ultrasound can be used to see these things, there are many other purposes and uses for this test. They can be used to relieve pain, warm up under your skin, Obstetrics (fetal developmental checks etc.) physical therapy, drug delivery, and even help to eliminate brain tumors. Although I said earlier that Obstetrics is only one use, it still uses the # 1 ultrasound machine, which is probably why we first thought. In fact, ultrasound has revolutionized the field of medicine. Doctors can do more now, now they can have a more accurate assessment of our problem without cutting us open. They are now able to relieve the pain they had never been able to relieve before (under surface pain.) Ultrasound has opened up a world of endless possibilities.

In my opinion the best part about ultrasound machines is their deep reach. Ultrasound can reach twice as deep as massage, which means it can cross the dermis layer of our skin and then help prevent many problems from there including inflammation, possible tumor, muscle pain / spasm. Ultrasounds can also reduce the formation of calcium and swelling, facilitate muscle or bone healing, break down scar tissue, reduce nerve irritation, and even improve blood flow.

How does an ultrasound do all this, you may ask? The ultrasound machine works by creating ultrasound waves - all of which sound above the human's ability to hear, at about 20,000 hertz - with a frequency of between 2 and 18 megahertz. Lower frequency images are lower resolution but deeper into the body, while higher frequency images are higher resolution but will not penetrate deeper as they are more likely to be absorbed into the body tissue. The first ultrasound machine allowed the operator to diagnose the patient but as previously stated they can now be used to perform some therapeutic procedures.

Ultrasound machines are used for very expensive machines that only have hospitals, but now there are portable and easy-to-use machines so almost every clinic and even some households have them available. With medical offices now costing around $ 200, and some machines costing about $ 1,000 to be more and more economical to own, if you have ultrasound regularly, though getting too often is not recommended.
