When you are 17 years old, the thought of having a big heart with the words "I Love Amy Squishy Fat Boobs & Butt" hanging down in the middle of your right arm seems like a great idea. But now that you're 35 and about to get married - to shock - someone's skinny and not her name, Amy doesn't sound like she's ever done it.
While more and more people have tattoos - an estimated 10 million Americans show them - more and more people are working hard to get rid of them. And today, whether you're starting a new conservative career, getting married to a tattoo or just because your taste has changed, getting rid of this old tattoo isn't as difficult as you think.
Although the decision is not always 100 per cent, most people are happy that they have chosen to dismiss it once the decision has fully recovered. So what are you missing - expecting a great Def Leppard written in Celtic script on the skull and spine on the lower back?
What is Tattoo?
Tattoos are one of the ways in which we seek or find - to beautify ourselves. They are only markers on skin made with permanent ink when the top layer of the dermis is damaged, or broken. Time is when all tattoos are placed with a needle; today, electric machines are used frequently.
Tattoos have existed - literally - for thousands of years, dating all the way back to the 5,200-year-old mummy called The Iceman. Although many people think of combinations of prisons, sailors, gangs and hippies when they think of tattoos, some cultures still use them today as important affiliate tools, such as the face tattoo and Ta Moko Maori body.
Whether a tattoo can be fully accounted for depends on many factors, including how big the tattoo is, what type and color of the pigment is used, the professionalism of the person making it, the age of the tattoo and the individual's natural skin color.
Types of Tattoo Removal
The three most common types of tattoo removal. They are:
Excision Surgery
Dermabrasion
Laser Removal Laser
Excision Surgery. This type is used to be the most common, and is still used in cases where the tattoo looks difficult to remove, or will work well removed by professional surgery. Your surgeon will cut the offending pattern, then sew the wound with stitches.
In areas where the tattoo is very large, one skin graft from another part of the body will be used. There will be scarring and, of course, the risk of infection will be greater. However, if the tattoo is relatively small, many say this is the best method to use because the result is better.
Dermabrasion. The sound may be more painful than it actually is. Usually it works with special hand tools, which make the upper and middle layers of the skin "sandy" far, exposing clean and flawless skin in its place. Sometimes caustic acid, sandpaper or salts (called salabrasion) are used instead (don't try this at home!). It is not recommended for older, non-professional tattoos and tattoos.
The disadvantage of this technique is that it can cause scars, become more painful and can cause skin changes or infections, which can prevent healing and affect the final results. However, it is cheaper than the laser method (see below) and works well with professional tats - this is because professional tattoo artists will have (hopefully) evenly distributed pigments.
Laser Removal Laser. The most commonly used technique today. Pigments in the tattoo are targeted using high-intensity laser beams. Laser will "disrupt" the ink and eventually it will be broken down and absorbed without harm by the body. People say that the procedure doesn't hurt at all, but it does feel like a series of elastic bands that swallow a little unpleasant on your skin.
Depending on the tattoo and others, various treatments may be necessary for the most effective results. People with better immune systems and lighter skin tones respond better, as will red, black, dark blue and dark orange tattoos. The depth of the tattoo and the type of ink, not just the color, will also play a role in the removal.
* Please note that some companies also advertise IPL, or Light Pulsed Intensed, tattoo removal systems. They are referred to as softer, but there is no scientific evidence as to whether or not the system works. Likewise, "soft" Q-switch lasers are sometimes used, but professionals in the field say that high power is needed to produce accurate results, so this should also be avoided.
Nice to be a Tattoo
Tom Leppard of Scotland has a leopard-like deep-seated tattoo that covers 99.2 percent of his body, and previously holds the Guinness World Record for Most Tattoo Men. The current world record holder is Lucky Lucky Rich of Australia, who has a tattoo - incredible - 100 percent of his body. Guess he doesn't have anything better to do, or that there is no better contribution to make to society than a living illustration.
One of the most tattooed women in the world is Canadian Krystyne Kolorful, who has more than 95 percent of her skin. Julia Gnuse also has over 95 per cent tactics on her body, breaking the world record with Ms. Colorful mentioned above. He should have started this path when the skin condition threatened to cover his body with boils and scars. Known as the Lady Illustrated, she still scratches under the sun, but believes it is less clear when she is protected by tattoos.
