Skin mole is an aggregation of colored or pigmented skin cells that forms smooth or enlarged areas of various sizes and colors
They are not fickle about where they form, or how old you are as they grow. Some come and go for no apparent reason, while others will be with you for life.
And almost everyone will have at least one mole at some point in their life.
Moles will only be a minor nuisance, unless there is a possible cancer. Melanomas, lethal skin cancer, often begins as a mole.
Fortunately most are harmless, and do not require any treatment. If they are ugly or have no medical reason to remove them. However, if you are aware of them, there is no good reason for them.
But if they are starting to change, or are just emerging and seem to grow quickly or seem strange, they can be checked by your doctor or dermatologist.
A somewhat exotic species is called halo nevus (a medical term for mole - more than one would be called nevi). Halo nevus is a common mole with a white ring or halo around it. They are common in children and adolescents, and usually go away as they age. They are usually harmless.
Atypical or Abnormal Moles
Abnormal moles include those of some color, different shapes from the oval or regular circle, or blurred or wrinkled borders, and should be viewed with suspicion. Although not usually cancerous, these are not normal or dysplastic nevi have a greater chance of becoming cancerous than normal moles
They can be hereditary, and although they are known to last for years without worry, need to be checked regularly for changes or signs of growth. Although there is no need to get rid of them if they are stable, many doctors advise their removal in the event of such an event.
So where and how is the formation of the mole?
Mol is a collection of skin cells, called melanocytes, that give your skin a dye. Instead of spreading throughout the skin, melanocytes sometimes clump together in patches or bumps, which we call mites. There does not seem to be a specific cause, unlike the somewhat similar warts, caused by the virus.
Moles begin their life between the two outer layers of the skin, the dermis and the epidermis. Pink and brown mole are most commonly grown near the surface, while those with blue, or blue moss, are lesser in skin. When colored cells do not concentrate, the mole may be dark brown or black.
Most of our moles have been with us since childhood, but they can begin to grow at any age. There are times when our hormone balance changes, such as puberty, pregnancy or menopause, as well as times when mole is usually present. Unfortunately, this mole often disappears after hormone levels return to normal.
Changes in Moles
Changes in mole are not usually caused by the development of cancer, with other causes being age and exposure to sunlight. Some moles may start to grow long hair, but the more normal changes are dark or lightening the dye.
The leading cause of cancerous mole is ultraviolet (UV) radiation under the sun, while the recent exposure to UV in the tanning salon has been a significant cause.
Try to check your mole at least once a year - get help for people who have trouble finding places like the back, neck and scalp.
No matter what kind of mole they are, if you notice any change in size, shape, color, or if the mole becomes itchy, soft or bloody for no apparent reason, be sure to get it checked by a dermatologist or an experienced doctor.
Surgical Mole Surgery
It is likely that your doctor will recommend that they be removed, whether they are cancerous or not.
Small surgery is an opportunity to remove the mole, and pathologists are studying for cancer cells. This is a serious matter, because if there is a mole left it can turn into malignant melanoma. Untreated melanoma is almost always fatal.
You may end up with a small scar (less obvious than a mole), and even then it will disappear quickly. It's unlikely that the mole will return.
So much for a dangerous mole.
Surgical removal is also an option if you want to get rid of a common mole, although you will have several options for this type of procedure, none of which involve a lot of pain or scarring.
